Top 50+50 Accountancy Firms 2021 revealed

Accountancy Age’s Top 50+50 Accountancy Firms 2021 have been revealed.

Each year, we collate information on the top 100 firms, putting a spotlight on those shaping and defining UK accountancy.

The table is based on voluntary submission of data and ranked by firms’ total UK fee income for the last financial year.

Accountancy Age also gathers information on other key aspects of each firm, including the number of female partners vs male partners, investment in technology, BAME representation and other factors. The data is used to provide a detailed snapshot of the industry, which we can compare with the previous year‘s findings, with a research report based off the findings to follow shortly.

This year’s rankings, which are sponsored by Silverfin, see Deloitte climb into the number-one spot following a 4.5 percent increase in UK fee income. PwC, despite a two percent increase, now sits in second, having clinched the number one spot in last year’s list.

EY’s strong year sees the firm retain its third-place spot, while KPMG remains in fourth despite a four percent dip in fee income.

Tilney Smith & Williamson has climbed two places since last year to claim sixth place on our list, with the integrated wealth management and professional services group formed by the merger of Tilney and Smith & Williamson on September 1, 2020.

Dow Schofield Watts has enjoyed another year of success. The firm climbed 13 places in our rankings between 2019 and 2020, and has earned another 10 places since last year. It now sits in 49th.

This year has also seen a spate of new entrants. Most notably, Xeinadin Group has earned 18th place in its first year in the rankings, having consolidated more than 100 professional services firms across the UK and Ireland.

Formerly a tax accounting firm, Brighton-based Crunch has withdrawn from the rankings this year due to a major business model overhaul. It now identifies as an ‘accounting platform’, marrying bespoke-made software with a digital network of advisers.
